In a Windows Server 2012 cluster, when using the Failover Cluster Manager to initiate a move on the Virtual Machine Storage, in the Information column it shows “Starting virtual machine storage migration…” and stays like that. In reality it is being done but it does not show you anything. When done, the Information will go empty and the resources tab shows the new storage location.
The word “Starting” is very misleading since it is not starting but actually being done. To actually see the status, you can go to the Hyper-V manager where you get the status like “Moving Storage (78%) – Synchronizing files”.
